What is floe.tv?

Floe.tv is a web application that allows you to create programs that fill out your personal channel. You can use and import video, audio, text, and graphics to create your unique media program. We also have a strong interest in allowing users to dynamically discover their data stored around the web to be used in their creations. We'll be adding features in waves, but if you have an idea, please send it to us!

What is a floe?

We wrote up a short article about what a floe is on our development blog "Money for Nothing":

"...a floe is a person’s own unique “channel” of information broadcast by themselves and their immediate people they follow, or their friends. We would really like this to be based on the open social graph, but its not ready yet, so we’re working with a basic asymmetrical follow method for now. A floe gives value in that it contains not only a user’s unique creations of media, but also includes their peers work as well, so that their channel is always syndicating the content of the people they follow, or their peers."

What is this OpenID business?

As defined on openid.net:

"OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites, simplifying your online experience. You get to choose the OpenID Provider that best meets your needs and most importantly that you trust. At the same time, your OpenID can stay with you, no matter which Provider you move to. And best of all, the OpenID technology is not proprietary and is completely free."

Why would I follow someone?

By following another user, their programs are automatically inserted into your floe. This allows for quick and easy media discovery across the floe.tv network. Keep up with your friends or anyone else you're intested in.
